TYPES OF ANESTHESIA

Anesthesia can be classified into three main types:

1. General Anesthesia:

Induces a state of unconsciousness and insensitivity to pain for the duration of a surgical procedure. It affects the entire body and typically involves a combination of intravenous drugs and inhaled gases.

2. Regional Anesthesia:

Blocks pain in a larger part of the body, such as an arm or leg. Common types include spinal anesthesia (injected into the arachnoid space) and epidural anesthesia (injected into the epidural space around the spinal cord).

3. Local Anesthesia:

Numbs a small, specific area of the body. It's often used for minor procedures, such as dental work or stitching a small wound, and is usually administered via injection, topical application, or spray.
